Enough and More

“On the darkest days when I feel inadequate, unloved, and unworthy,
I remember whose daughter I am and I straighten my crown!”

Flipping through the pages of my journal made me realize one thread that has been running along- I’ve felt that I’m not enough!

Whether as a young girl or as an adult, as a student or as a working woman, as a daughter or as a mom, as a wife or as a daughter-in-law, feelings of insecurity have been sneaking up on me from time to time.I have felt inadequate for all the wrong reasons and have been completely sold out to the lie that I’m worthless. To make it short, I could never see myself as a Proverbs 31 woman. Not even close.

I look around and compare and allow my inadequacies to consume me. It hasn’t been easy wading through the strong currents of criticism and competitiveness, as there’s always someone doing better than I do.  As a result, I have often found myself caught up in the unhappiness trap.

Thankfully, I also found another thread that ran intertwined with insecurity- feelings of Hopefulness.

My insecurity makes me pray every time I feel I don’t measure up. When I get on my knees and depend on God , He reminds me that I have nothing to prove anymore. My worth is not defined by what I do, but solely by who I am. I never become unworthy because I fall short of the expectations of the society or the high standards that I set for myself. I’ll not wallow in the mire but will look up to the One who wants to lift me higher.

When I hear a whole lot of voices screaming at me that I’m not enough, I’m insignificant or that I don’t matter,  I choose to listen to the only voice that says I’m enough and more!

So next time when I stumble and screw up or scared I’ll fail, chances are, insecure thoughts will try to visit me in the future. I’ll say, ” Hello, insecure thoughts. I know you’re here to try to convince me that something is wrong with me and that I’m not enough. But I know that’s not true. So thanks for stopping by but I’ve got better things to do than listen to you.”

I am a Princess and I have started my journey with the High King’s approval!
